Is Stretching Your Ears Addictive?

We've all either been there or know someone who has...  We say we're going to stretch our ears to a certain size and then we just keep going.  I would love to hear your opinion on why you think we can't stop stretching.  Please share your story below.

I personally started off saying I would only stretch my ears a little.  Then a couple months passed and I thought it just didn't look big enough.  I decided I should stretch them to just a 2 gauge. This size lasted a while before I got bored.   I decided no matter what I would stop at 00 gauge.  Guess what, I couldn't stop.  My question is, why can't I stop?

I know how far we go will vary per person, but could it be that stretching our ears is actually an addictive process?  Please let us know your story and your thoughts by commenting below.

I started stretching my ears 16 years ago. Started slowly at a 10 gauge, than 8, than 6 and was eventually pretty content sitting at a 4 gauge, but recently the earrings and plugs I’ve been drawn to have been starting at 2 gauage and up. So the time has come to stretch again :)

I only planned to go to about 4 gauge. I’ve been stretching a little over a year and am now 0 and itching to go to 00! In my opinion it is addicting and I’ve had a hard time controlling myself! lol! I keep telling myself “you are 54 years old, just became a MiMi (grandmother), and you keep stretching your ears, they may not close back up”! I agree with Kristen’s comment about coordinating gauging up with certain life events. I imagine I’ll still go a little further! Don’t think I can help myself ?

I started stretching my 2nd hole piercing around 2 and a half years ago. I went up to an 8 or so, got bored and stopped, but then decided to continue and restart a few months later. My 2nd hole has stayed at a 0g for about a year now, and I have no desire to size up because I think it would look strange with it being my second hole and all. That’s why I chose to do my second instead of my regular piercings, because I knew I’d just want to keep going and going.

I decided I wanted to start stretching at about 17 and only go to a 00. Now I’m almost 23 and at 1 1/4". Would love to go to 1 1/2" but my ears don’t seem like they could take it without looking awkwardly thin. I’d say it’s highly addictive, mainly because it’s fun to push your boundaries. And it’s beautiful if done correctly!

I started stretching 6 years ago when I was 15 and swore I’d stop before 0’s aka the point of no return lol and then 3 years ago I swore I’d stop at a 1/2 inch haha. Now I’m at 22mm aiming for 24mm and we’ll see how long that’ll last. I think my problem is getting bored with the same size and jewelry. I like having variety in my life and I’m in a place where my looks don’t affect my job and career, so there’s no pressure to do whatever. I love my lobes and how far theyve come without any blowouts and as long as I take care of them and my jewelry, I think I can go to an inch by the end of the year :)
