Everyone has different skin types and allergies, so the material you choose to stretch your ears should be tailored to your individual needs. Glass plugs are another great material for stretching ears. It is lightweight, non-porous, and hypoallergenic, making it safe and comfortable to use. These plugs are not only easy to clean but they will also last a long time. Glass plugs are a great plug to use while stretching your ears. Below are a few of our most popular glass plugs.
Materials to stay away from while stretching your ears
Organic Materials
Organic materials such as wood, bone, and horn are a gorgeous look for your stretched ears. However, while your ears are in the initial stretching stage we recommend staying away from organic materials. Organic materials are a porous material so they typically will hold bacteria in the wood. This can be cleaned with jojoba oil, but we typically tell customers to wait until your ears have healed until you use wood plugs or other organic materials.
Silicone Plugs
Silicone is one of the most popular materials used in stretch ears. It is affordable easy to clean and will last a long time. Silicone Plugs can be used to stretch your ears up to the next ear gauge size. Typically though we find ears are not ready to stretch the next size, but silicone plugs do not know this. The Silicone plugs will continue to expand out to their proper size whether your ears are ready for it or not. If your ears are not ready this will lead to a blowout. Silicone plugs also like to capture and absorb bacteria. So if your ears are stretching and have micro tears or cuts this bacteria will enter the tear and lead to an infection in your stretched ear.
