How much can you stretch your ears before they will not grow back to "normal"?

I personally have not let my ears close. So I do not know the answer.  I always tell people 00g is a safe bet, but we want to hear what you have heard is the "point of no return?"

  • I was told by my piercer that between 2g-00g should revert back

  • I haven’t let them close, but I’ve always heard they don’t go back the same.

  • I was told by a piercer that my lobes could handle 1/2" stretch and go back just fine. I’ve known people that were around that size and went back to normal. I’ve never tried to shrink them all the way back but I’ve gotten them down a few sizes before.

  • I have gauged my ears twice and the first time I took them out at a 00g and they never fully closed but were quite close in a little over a year of having them out
