Do you ever feel judged for having stretched ear?

I used to feel this but eventually got over it.  No need to hear my story we want to hear yours.

Yes. I have gotten all the comments many times…. Gross, what was I thinking, why would I do that to myself…etc. it used to bother me a great deal but I just let the comments roll off now. I still feel people staring at them though. Hopefully they will become more accepted, at least by the people I know, soon.

I currently work 2 pretty high end jobs for an 18 year old. One is at a super conservative workers comp clinic, the other as a tutor for high school programs that are run by UCSF medical school. My lobes are currently 14mm and I get judged on a daily basis at both jobs, but I still managed to land both jobs, even with tapers in during the interviews. I catch my bosses staring at my lobes whenever we talk face to face, but it’s something you have to get over. The best thing you can do is not care what other people think and exceed the expectations they set for you. You stretch for you, and that’s all that matters.

I still do at times…..but I work in Public library right by my kids schools. And so when kids that know me, bring their parents by… “hey mom, this is Mrs Whitney, we see her during math club, etc”. I love it. They don’t get a chance to prejudge… their kids don’t and it’s like the kids have set example for their parents :)

I used to feel really judged, still do, and being a young girl with stretched ears and big goals it’s difficult to find a job. Sometimes I wish I didn’t stretch my ears but I’m also glad I did. Wearing assorted plugs is a great way for me to express myself and I would not be me without my stretched ears!

I work in a very snobby area with a lot of conservative people, so unfortunately almost every day at work I feel judged for my ears being stretched. I don’t let it get to me though because my management doesn’t care, so long as my plugs don’t have curses or anything unprofessional on them, which isn’t a huge issue since I’m still stretching as is and my stretch plugs are nothing pretty. Thankfully there are a few people who come in and really appreciate them and appreciate that my company allows me to have them at all considering I work in such close proximity to people and I’m directly representing my company on the daily.
