The dreaded stretch from 2 gauge to 0 gauge
Nov 18, 2022 / by Alex Peace
One of the most difficult stretch for our customers is when they jump from 2 gauge up to 0 gauge. Customers complain that they cannot stretch their ears any further past 2 gauge. And for a lot of customers this is where they stop. For some reason the ear stretching community has made it common to make this jump from 2 gauge to 0 gauge. We really do not understand why this started. Did you know you can stretch from 2 gauge to 1 gauge and then 0 gauge? Why did everyone decide it was best to skip a ear gauge size at 2G? We always recommend taking your time and going in slower increments. Your ears will thank you later.
Stretch in 1mm increments
We have mentioned many times in our Two Feather Blog to stretch your ears in 1mm increments. Forget ear gauges all together. Below is the common smaller sizes from millimeter to gauges.
3mm = 8 gauge
4mm = 6 gauge
5mm = 4 gauge
6mm = 2 gauge
7mm - 1 gauge
8mm - 0 gauge
9mm
10mm - 00 gauge
The Stretch should go from 2 gauge to 1 gauge
The biggest issue that you will have from trying to make the jump from 2 gauge up to 0 gauge is you are trying to increase your gauge size by 2mm. Your ears have been stretching in 1mm increments up to this point and for some reason you are now telling your ears you should stretch 2mm. This can cause pain, irritation, or a blowout. This is why we recommend taking it slow and doing the stretch from 2 gauge (6mm) up to 1 gauge (7mm).
Two Feather Plugs offers a few different style 1 gauge (7mm) single flare plugs to help transition between these sizes.
As always take your time?
