Did you have any regrets during your ear stretching process?
July 5, 2021 / by Alex Peace
We have been asking our customers a few questions about their ear stretching journey.
Today we asked our customers. "Did you have any regrets during your ear stretching process?"
The number 1 answer was...
"I WISH I DID NOT STRETCH SO FAST"
Please remember when stretching your ears to take your time. Almost everyone that answered this question regretted moving too quickly. The average time between stretching between gauge sizes is typically 1-2 months. Please remember everyone is different so the longer the better.
Here are some of our other favorite answers to what our customers regretted while stretching their ears...

"Shoving a glowstick through my ear without measuring. I ended up ripping them so badly, Luckily I never had a blowout. My ears have never gone below 1/2" even with leaving them out for years. The glowstick situation was a long, long time ago. Lol, I'm still stretching just a lot slower now."
Ali
Sleeping with the long tapers in! Bad idea.

Not having a backup set of plugs. My plugs fell out got lost. I did not have a backup pair in my size so I had to basically start all over again when I finally got new ones.
Kimberly
Not keeping any of my smaller size plugs. If anything happens to your ears like a blowout you will need to go down a few sizes. So make sure you keep at least one size of your smaller plugs even when you stretch larger.
Eva
Smelling my plugs when I changed them out. No matter how curious you are. I do not recommend it.
Cassie
I regret using acrylic anything. Glass tapers are the best in my opinion, and then using single flair glass.
Paige
Not using the right material for my plugs, not using lube, not using the correct size of gauge, and not letting my ears heal between sizes. They're alright now but have a lot of pink scar tissue, and my sister says they look like a cat's butthole.
Melissa
When I was 19 and I thought it would be a good idea to stretch with silicone plugs sized up. I do not recommend stretching with silicone.
Sammi
Doing a stretch with a spiral taper the day before warped tour where it promptly got stuck in a friend's hair and yanked so hard it started bleeding... Went back to regular earrings for years and only recently started again. Currently, I'm at an 8 gauge, but I'm going a lot slower this time and definitely avoiding spirals and acrylic.

My first time around was pretty disastrous. This was over a decade ago and there wasn't as much info available as there is now. I got to a 2 gauge but I did so many things wrong. I stretched too fast, I used acrylic, I had double flared plugs in fresh holes (ouch) forcing acrylic tapers way too fast. I finally had to just let them heal up. Over a decade later and I'm back at my stretching journey.

Using acrylic Also buying way too many gauges of the current size knowing I was going to go up another size. So when I was at the new size I could not use my smaller plugs.
