We've all either been there or know someone who has... We say we're going to stretch our ears to a certain size and then we just keep going. I would love to hear your opinion on why you think we can't stop stretching. Please share your story below.
I personally started off saying I would only stretch my ears a little. Then a couple months passed and I thought it just didn't look big enough. I decided I should stretch them to just a 2 gauge. This size lasted a while before I got bored. I decided no matter what I would stop at 00 gauge. Guess what, I couldn't stop. My question is, why can't I stop?
I know how far we go will vary per person, but could it be that stretching our ears is actually an addictive process? Please let us know your story and your thoughts by commenting below.

Ha ha. . . Yeah. . . I started stretching for practical reasons. The smallest tunnel size I could get. I loved earrings but was prone to infections. I thought having a silicone or surgical steel tunnel would be a good protective layer between my ear and whatever metal is used in the earrings. Then I thought, “you know, it would be easier to manage if I go up a size”. It was like that for a good while; every 6months to a year going up a size for “practical reasons”. Then, as a fan of statement earrings, finding hangers on Etsy? And all those beautiful glass creations? Well. Here I am. A 4g, saying I’ll stop at 2g, knowing full well that is not going to be the case. :’) It’s funny because I was never into the whole “stretched lobes” look and had no intention of going that direction. But you know what? Haven’t had an ear infection since.
I was in west Hollywood about 6 months ago and I stopped in a tattoo / piercing shop and was talking to a very enthusiastic young lady who did the piercings there. I’m 55 years old and I had a pierced eyebrow so I decided to have my ears pierced we started with a 2 gauge and I said that would be where I started and stoped, she said oh you’ll continue on, now I’m at a 1/2 inch and my plans are to stop at 1 in but my ears stretched naturally on their own so I don’t know what I’ll stop at. I enjoy it and I love to Jewelry options that I have at the larger sizes. I was the manager of a large funeral home and a metropolitan area and I enjoy my tattoos and piercings so much that I left funeral service now I drive a truck for a living but I love the freedom to express myself as I so desire.
Yes!!! Just like getting pierced or having tattoos! Oh my goodness.
I loved it so much that I’m stretching my second lobes! I mean more jewelry options and just I’m different. Most people only have one love stretching I’ve got two! Of course, this will limit me from going up too large with my first lobes.
But yes, like piercings and tattoos it is addicting. There are so many jokes about I’ll just go up one more size, 10 sizes later. . Haha.
It was addicting at first. I started with a regular ear piercing and worked my way to 0g. I’ve been at 0 for about 7 years now and have no plans to size up. My ear lobes couldn’t support another size up. I reached my goal size and have been satisfied since.
Yes! I started getting larger guage earrings because normal earrings caused a lot of irritation. I then had to keep going up in size because my ears would stretch on their own. Then I kept seeing cute/pretty plugs that didn’t come in my size so I’d just size up. Now I’m at all 2g and have tried going up to a 1g and it didn’t work out so I’m forced to stay at a 2g. I’m still happy with it. :)
