Is Stretching Your Ears Addictive?

Is Stretching Your Ears Addictive?

We've all either been there or know someone who has...  We say we're going to stretch our ears to a certain size and then we just keep going.  I would love to hear your opinion on why you think we can't stop stretching.  Please share your story below.

I personally started off saying I would only stretch my ears a little.  Then a couple months passed and I thought it just didn't look big enough.  I decided I should stretch them to just a 2 gauge. This size lasted a while before I got bored.   I decided no matter what I would stop at 00 gauge.  Guess what, I couldn't stop.  My question is, why can't I stop?

I know how far we go will vary per person, but could it be that stretching our ears is actually an addictive process?  Please let us know your story and your thoughts by commenting below.

I started stretching when I was in middle school with my friend Rachelle. She always wore belly rings in her ears and I liked how it looked lol. She stayed at 14g for a long time, where I went straight to a 10g in 9th grade (I do NOT recommend that lol, learn from my impatience and teenage foolery). Tore my ears a little, which was super painful, but made it easier to go up to 8g. As I went through high school I ended at 00g, which is as big as I got and didn’t want to go beyond that point. I didn’t like that the bigger I went the more limited the options were lol. About a year after graduating, I got a job that didn’t allow stretched ears, so I had to take them out and my ears shrunk down to an 8g. It sucked, but it was the only job I could find (it was during the recession and I really needed the money). After I quit from there, I started stretching again and finally got back to 4g. Contemplating on going up to 2g or 0g, though lol.

I started small with a 14gauge then slowly moved up until I reached 1/2". I really like where I am but the next size up just keeps sounding better and better. The only down side is ad you go up in size, the prices do as well.

I’m partially the same as Sola, above, I’m at a 0 and the hanging pieces I like get so huge & expensive much bigger than this. I’ve started wearing plugs more because I chopped my hair off & it works with the androgynous look, so going up is tempting, but unfortunately the lady at the piercing booth at the mall when I was 8 pierced my ears unevenly enough that it’s somewhat noticeable at this size and definitely would be visible bigger. Built-in stretching limit, as it were.

My sister and I began our stretching adventure about 2 years ago and both swore we’d stop at 00…and then she moved up, since then we’ve been in this head to head challenge of stretching. We’re both currently at 16mm and she’s thinking of bumping up to 22mm so obviously I’ll be bumping up to 22mm.

I started stretching my ears when I saw my son having his ears stretched and I liked it , he got to 14 mm and I was going to 20-22 mm. When I was at 22 mm i thought , mmm it is still small so I went up to 30 mm and stayed there for almost a year. I got sick and had to have a surgerie and no piercings allowed in the hospital , So after the stay my ears shrunk again to 22 mm . I stayed at 22 mm for a while and than went back to 30 mm . When i got to 30 mm I decided to go to 40 mm . And it was going fast every week I had a gap and inserted a size bigger. Before I had stretching problems to go from 28 mm to 30 mm and now going from 38 mm to 40 mm same thing , my ears start to struggle . So I took the 40 mm out to sleep in the morning my earlobes were swollen and red and I put 38 mm back in . I have the intention , the bigger I go the smaller they look. So for the moment i am staying around 38 and 40 mm. Greetings from Belgium.
